Formetric 4D System

Technology
The Formetric system and a screenshot of its analysis
The DIERS formetric 4D analysis system permits rapid static and dynamic (functional) optical measurement of the human back and spine. The procedure is radiation-free and operates without contact. Numerous clinical parameters for objective analysis of body statics, posture, scoliosis, and all forms of spinal deformities can be shown. The new 4D technology leads into functional clinical measurement technology, to increase measurement precision (4D averaging) and to avoid postural variances.

The formetric system has been in development for more than 25 years at various universities and institutes in cooperation with our customers. The development began with the objective of reducing the high x-ray load on patients being followed for scoliosis and developing a procedure which offers a replacement for x-rays.

Over the years, the application spectrum was greatly expanded. New applications such as control measurements of shoe inlay function or testing equalisation of leg length inequality were developed, and new target groups such as dentists, osteopaths etc. were opened up.

The 4D technology which was developed in cooperation with leading European universities and is registered for a patent is currently in use in the DIERS formetric 4D and allows functional analysis and locomotion studies of the spine, shoulder, pelvis etc.

Rodin M4D Scanner

Close-up of the scanner
Portable and quick to set up
Its small size makes it easily portable from one place to another.
In less than 5 minutes, it is installed and ready to scan in any kind of environment.

Accurate and constant
The scanner offers an optimal precision for every body part, in addition to tolerating slight movements from the patient. You are assured of consistent results regardless of who performs the scan and in what conditions.

Versatile
It is possible to scan any body part, from head to toes, while providing a comfortable, clean and fast solution for both the patient and the clinician.

Fast acquisition
It takes only 40 seconds to scan a foot and 90 seconds to scan a torso or a leg.

Easy to learn and use
No basic knowledge is required and only 2 hours of training is necessary. The intuitive and user-friendly interface as well as the real time display of the scan makes scanning accessible
to anyone.

Structure Sensor

The Structure sensor is a laser-based 3D scanner that is extremely fast and portable. Using this, we are able to scan patients at out-of-town clinics when we would normally be forced to make bulky casts.

In conjunction with the M4D scanner The Rodin S4 Milling Machine allows us to quickly and easily create 3D models for fabrication of orthotics and prosthetics. Rather than the traditional method of casting with fiberglass tape and filling it with plaster, scanning and milling is both faster and less labor intensive.

The milling machine can be used to fabricate a wide range of products including:
  • Body Jackets
  • TLSOs
  • WCR Braces
  • AK and BK Prosthetics
  • AFOs
